It’s been a
long time but I still want to tell you about my January. At the second of
January I took my Mum from the airport in Riga to show her Gulbene and the
region where I live. On Sunday we went together with the people from the
culture centre, Eugene, Sophia and her friends from Germany to Riga. We visited
the leisure park at Lido. So a few went for a meal and we went skating and had
a lot of fun even if not all went out there without any hurt. Afterwards we looked forward our dinner and
were nearly too late for the ice revue “Ģimenes pasaka - Sudraba slidas” .The play was set in Denmark. Two
poor children sale their ice skates to get the money their father needed for an
operation and during that they got support from the other children in their
town. Of course, we didn’t understand much of what the actors said or sang but
we understood the story and had a nice evening. After that trip the vacation
and the Christmas holidays were already over. Over that time I got a cold, so I
wasn’t in a good mood these days. It also got colder outside and we had no warm
water in our hostel and it wasn’t sure when it get fixed. So we went either in
the culture centre or in the sports centre for the shower, Thank god, the
problem was fixed when we got temperatures from -15° degrees until -22° degrees.
Okay, I have to say: It was freaking cold. But with the right clothes it was
pretty okay. Unfortunately we didn’t have a lot of snow, but at -15° degrees
there aren’t any clouds. So we had sunny days. Also the daily routine is
changing. You do everything outside in the first run because you don’t want to
leave the house again.
In the 20th
of January a new project started. Now I teach German to the teachers of my
school. Meanwhile there are German lessons every second week on a Monday after
the regularly lessons. Also I was on an excursion to Riga with students. We saw
different sights in the city centre and it was as I already told you very very
cold and visited the Latvian Museum of War and the Museum of Occupation.
Afterwards we went to Alfa, a big shopping mall, to watch “Tarzan” in the
cinema. Mostly they do not synchronize normal films, they just put subtitles.
But animation films they synchronize, so it was hard for me to understand the
dialogs, but the story is already known.
On that trip I saw one of the most beautiful mornings I have ever seen.
The sun was rising and the snow and the ice crystals were sparkling in orange
and rosy all over the countryside.
